UVM Concert Band

The UVM Concert Band is open to all UVM students regardless of major, minor, or college.
In fact, in a typical semester, most or all of the seven undergraduate colleges are represented in Band.

What are they saying about Band?

"I didn't think about continuing with Concert Band before arriving at UVM but I am so glad that I continued with it!  It is so fulfilling and really gives me joy after a rehearsal and I can't recommend the class enough.  The pieces were really engaging and challenging which made it so much fun to play and work of outside of class."
- Spring 2023

"An amazing concert band environment!  Fun to be in Band, work is doable and important, doesn't feel like pointless assignments.  Rehearsal is fun while also being very effective and helpful."- Fall 2022

Why play in Band?

The UVM Concert Band performs several on-campus concerts each year and has also performed throughout Vermont and the Northeast.  We have also given international concerts in Austria, Germany, Italy, and Slovakia.  Repertoire is chosen from band "classics" like the Holst suites, John Barnes Chance's Variations on a Korean Folk Song,  and Frank Ticheli's Vesuvius, and newer works, including Rossano Gallante's The Redwoods, David Holsinger's Abram's Pursuit, first performances, and American premieres (click here for recent programs).

Auditions

Each student takes a yearly placement audition for seating.  Since these are simply placement auditions, students should register for Band (MUE 2200) before the audition.
